De profundis letter5/8/2023 Generally speaking, “De Profundis” employs a stream of consciousness which takes on an argumentative nature, critiquing not only Bosie but society as a whole. “De Profundis,” which recounts Wilde’s tumultuous relationship with Lord Alfred Douglas and his eventual turn to Christ, is ambiguous in terms of genre. Ross titled the letter “De Profundis,” which translates to “from the depths.” The complete, unedited letter would not appear until 1962. An abridged version of the letter was published five years after Wilde’s death in 1900 by a former lover and close friend, Robert Ross. It was not until his release in May of the same year that Wilde was given possession of the letter in full. He wrote it between January and March 1897, while imprisoned in Reading Gaol for “gross indecency”-i.e., sexual relations with other men. “De Profundis” is a letter written by Oscar Wilde to his former student, friend, and lover Lord Alfred Douglas, whom he refers to as Bosie.

One day Babar is enjoying a lovely ride on his mother's back when a cruel hunter shoots at them. And then, a bit further on, the King of the herd becomes ill and also dies - I honestly didn't expect this in a book written for children.Īnyway, as the full title of the book states, Babar is a little elephant and is, apparently, one of the nicest of the baby elephants in the herd. What surprised me the most about the story is that Babar's mother dies at the beginning of the book - how sad. They may even tell the story better than the words do! Another charming touch is the text which is produced in script so the books look as though they are hand-written. If you know the Babar books then you will appreciate the wonderful colour illustrations that are throughout each book. I remember watching some Babar cartoons on the television when I was young but had never read the books before, so when a copy of " The Story of Babar" came into stock I was so intrigued I decided to have a quick read! Spawn origins book 25/8/2023 Sarenrae served as Ihys's right hand in the first war between the gods, when the gods of chaos (led by Ihys) clashed with the gods of law (led by Asmodeus). She comforted Ihys when his brother Asmodeus castigated him for giving free will to mortals. 2 HistoryĪccording to the teachings of the followers of Asmodeus (whose motives should always be questioned), Sarenrae is one of the oldest gods in existence, having been created by Ihys, one of the two primordial deities in the time before time. To this end, she expects her faithful to be skilled at swordplay, both as a form of martial art promoting centering of mind and body, and so that when they do enter battle, their foes do not suffer any longer than necessary. From the remorseless evil of the undead and fiends, to the cruelties born in the hearts of mortals, Sarenrae's doctrines preach swift justice delivered by the scimitar's edge. Yet there are those who have no interest in redemption, who glory in slaughter and death. Sarenrae (foreground) relaxes with Shelyn and Desna.

Netflix no rules book5/8/2023 It focuses on a few core ideas backed by multiple real-life situations. It focuses on a few core ideas backed by various real-life situations. Luckily, the book turned out to be both helpful and enjoyable to read. I was also afraid to read yet another book on corporate success as so many of them say very little new other than ' A successful company had a successful founder who developed a successful product and achieved the success for his company with the help of a successful team'. I was initially hesitant to read the book since so many resources are available online for free - especially the famous slide deck on Netflix culture, which I saved on my website HERE. Actually, according to Netflix, the answer should be Not at all, at least if you work in the creative area. Do you think you would deliver better results at your job if you were paid a higher bonus? If you are like me, you probably answered Yes.
